"The Last Show Girl" 3 days before German release
57-year old Shelly (Pamela Anderson) has to come to terms with the fact that her show will be closing down. It's quite a simple story and I found the script lacking in some points, but the casting of Pamela Anderson in the lead was a really good move: An actress, which was reduced to her looks plays a character, which is also reduced to her looks for her job. But here she can show that she is a capable actress. "Riff Raff" 17 days before German release
When his ne'er-do-well son and his ex-wife arrive unannounced at an ex-Hitmans (Ed Harris) holiday retreat, it obviously means danger. They are on the run from a gangster (cast against type: Bill Murray), who applied the services of Ed Harris' character. His new family doesn't really know about his past. The film has a much more comedic tone than being a thriller. "The Critic" 10 days before German release
Sir Ian McKellen switches sides and plays a sharp-tongued and feared theater critic in the 1930s in London. When he gets fired from his newspaper, he uses the help of an actress (Gemma Arterton) he regularly ripped to shreds in his critiques to get revenge on his publisher (Mark Strong) for his firing. A thematically interesting story, but the screenplay juggles around with too many side elements to keep the story engaging. "I Like Movies" 31 days before German release
This little movie is a discovery. Lawrence Kweller (Isaiah Lehtinen) is a difficult "kid", someone you don't necessarily have to like. He loves movies and wants to study film, but usually gets in the way of himself and his environment. As the story unfolds, we begin to understand the reasons behind his behavior. "Love Hurts" 17 days before German release
Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan ("Everything Everywhere All at Once") gets cast again as an unusual action hero in "Love Hurts" with an Oscar nominee (Ariana DeBose) . Marvin Gable (Quan) works in a real estate agency, but in a former life he was a henchman for a mob boss, who has unfinished business with Gable's love interest (DeBose) . On Valentine's Day his past is catching up with him. The film was directed by a stuntman and is only interested in the - deliberately silly- action sequences. Yesterday in the Sneak was "Sing Sing" which is about a Sing Sing prison theatre group. Divine G (Colman Domingo), imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, finds purpose by acting alongside other prisoners. Things take an emotional turn with an unexpected newcomer showing up (Clarence Maclin). On their way they get mysteriously attacked which injures the father. The wound gets infected and Blake slowly transforms into a werewolf, while he struggles to protect his wife (Julia Garner) and daughter. The first Sneak movie of 2025 was "A Real Pain", which follows mismatched cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) as they travel through Poland to honor their deceased grandmother, but their trip takes a dark turn when their old tensions resurface.
