I will not waste time and space by repeating the full title of the film over and over again , it was an adaptation of a novel with the same name by Texan Benjamin Alire Sáenz, who first studied, then taught creative writing at the University of Texas while also publishing stories, children's books and poems. Sáenz came out in 2008 aged 54, and put his almost, but not quite life-long struggle with his sexuality into young adult fiction, namely the book on which this film was based, which was released in 2012, and the sequel "... Dive into the Waters of the World" from 2021. For the film directed by Aitch Alberto, the Miami native also adapted Sáenz's novel into a screenplay. Here's the trailer:
And how did you like this queer Coming-of-Age story from late 1980s Texas? How did you enjoy the performances, most notably of course by Max Pelayo and Reese Gonzales in the two title roles, but also by TV stars Eva Longoria and Kevin Alejando as Dante's parents, plus mexican thespians Veronica Falcón and Eungenio Derbez als Aristotles parents? How did you like the storytelling? Please let us know in a reply to this posting.
