"Emily" - a biopic about British writer Emily Brontë that doesn't claim to be a 100% true depiction of her short life - was written and directed by actress Frances O'Connor, who starred in such diverse films as the Jane Austen adaptation "Mansfield Park", the Spielberg sci-fi film "A.I." and Richard Donner's Michael Crichton adaptation "Timeline". For her first feature behind the camera, she chose a more meta approach and put Emily into a romantic drama not entirely unlike her only novel "Wuthering Heights". Here's the trailer:
And how did you like the film, which certainly did not go the easy standard biopic road? How about the performances, most of all of course Emma Mackey who is in almost every scene of the movie (and even had to forget she already knew French, as she is half-french herself, grew up in Le Mans and only moved to England at age 17 ), but also Alexandra Dowling as older sister Charlotte (author of "Jane Eyre"), Fionn Whitehead as brother Branwell and Oliver Jackson-Cohen als love interest William Weightman? Let us know what you thought of "Emily" in a reply to this posting.
