"Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon" is a truely international production, from a Californian and a New York-based production company, set in Louisiana, starrting a korean actress who was partly raised in Canada, and of course written and directed by a britisch filmmaker with iranian roots. Ana Lily Amirpour was lauded for her first feature film, the black-and-white so-called vampire western "A Girl walks Home Alone at Night". She seems to have an inkling for female-led genre films, because her second feature "The Bad Batch" about a woman (trying to survive in a lawless area with a gang of canibals) - which starred Jason Momoa and Keanu Reeves - also belonged to the fantasy/horror niche; so does her third film, for which this is the trailer:
And how did you like "Mona Lisa", which started rather slow, but gained tempo once officer Harold (played by Craig Robinson) made contact with the titular girl (played by Jeon Jong-seo)? How did you enjoy the story and characters, which of course included stripper Bonnie Belle (Kate Hudson), her son Charlie (Evan Whitten), and self-proclaimed DJ Fuzz (Ed Skrein)?
