Full disclosure: while I enjoy the occasional horror film (was a fan of "Scream" and a regular visitor of the FFF during the late 1990s and through the 2000s), I have almost no knowledge of classic horror films of the 1970s, as I am an 1980s kid. For example, I have never seen the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (or any sequel, for that matter), only watched the original "Halloween" once (and on cable, so butchered. So, I can only report from expert testimony (i.e. Roughale ) that Ti Wests "X" war full of references and nods to genre classics. The film was shot not in Texas, but in a small community name Fordell on the North Island of New Zealand; it premiered in March at the "South by Southwest" film festival along with "Everything Everywhere All at Once". And this is the trailer:
And how did you like the so-called slasher film which started rather slowly and concentrated all of its action (well, it's gory action) in the final third of the movie? How did you like the characters, from producer girlfriend Maxine (played by Mia Goth, who also played the old lady pearl in heavy makeup and prosthetics by the Weta Workshop), to Martin Henderson as producer Wayne, Owen campbel as director RJ, Jenna Ortega as his girlfirend Lorraine, plus Kid Cudi as adult actor Jackson, and Brittany Snow as starlet Bobby-Lynne? Please tell us what you though of "X" in a reply to this posting.
Oh, and there's already a prequel to "X" announced; the trailer for "Pearl" was shown to North American audiences as a post-credits scene, but that one hasn't traveled across the ocean yet. Oh well...
