"The Many Saints of Newark" is a prequel to the HBO series "The Sopranos" which ran from 1999 to 2007. While that series told the story of modster boss Tony Sopranos, his gang and his family, this film tells the story of his father John (Jon Bernthal), but more than that of the Moltisanti family during the 1960s and 70s. The screenplay was once again written by series creator David Chase and directed by Alan Taylor, who is both a Sopranos and a general HDO veteran, though his lastest cinematic endeavours - 2013's "Thor: The Dark World" and 2015's "Terminator Genisys" received mixed reactions at best.

Now, two questions for you guys: how did you like "The Many Saints of Newark", and did you watch "The Sopranos" and are familiar with the families? I freely admit that I haven't seen one minute of the TV show, plus I'm not the greatest fan of gangster/mobster stories in general. But I'm interested in your opinion, so please write down your thoughts in a reply to this posting.
