#1283 Hot Air (2018)

Frank Coraci is the latest of Hollywood's comedy directors to branch out a little, after Adam McKay und Jay Roach had success with more serious - and more political - offerings. For those who don't instantly connect him to any movies: after starting out with an indie thriller, his main claim to fame (or infamy, in some cases) is being the go-to director for many, many Adam Sandler films (plus a few Kevin James comedies), from "The Wedding Singer" (clearly his best feature to date) to "The Ridiculous 6".
The "Hot Air" script was turned in by longtime movie production assistant Will Reichel, who wrote this "on spec", meaning without any contract by a studio or production company to do so. The script was sold back in 2014, but it took another four years to turn it into a movie, for which we here have the trailer:
Now, how did you like this film, which still has plenty of (meant to be) funny moments even though it's a little more serious and political that Coraci's usual fare? How did you enjoy Steve Coogan (whom we last saw in "Stan & Ollie") as an american talk radio host, and how about former scream queen Neve Campbell as his publicist/girlfriend, not to forget the female lead, Taylor Russell (who previously was on sneak screens in "Before I Fall", but is perhaps best-knows for her role as Judy Robinson in Netflix' "Lost in Space" remake) as niece Tess? Did you like the story, the monologues and dialogues? Just write down your thoughts about "Hot Air" into a reply to this post - no need to call in.
