#1278 Fisherman's Friends

The real "The Fisherman's Friends" actually are Fishermen from Cornwall who really sung sea shanties "on the side"; they had even self-published a few CDs. Their "rise to fame" so to speak was due to a music manager from Universal who was visiting the town (which had become a popular set location for several TV productions) and encountered them by accident. But from here, the paths of reality and the film diverge, almost until the very end, when the debut album of the "Friends" really entered the UK Top 10 in 2010.
The film is dedicated to founding "Friend" Trevor Grills and manager Paul McMullen who both died in an accident while touring back in 2013.

How did you like this third musically-inclined film in a row? How would you compare it to "Vox Lux" and "Yesterday"? How did you like the shanties, and the performances by James Purefoy as head "Friend" Jim, Tuppence Middleton as his daughter Alwyn, and Daniel Mays as big-city manager Danny? How did you like the other townspeople, and the story which included some complications which a not part of the official "Fisherman's Friends" history? Ich mag Musikfilme, ich mag Irland, ich mag Filme ohne abgenutzt bekannte Gesichter - so wie diesen, hat sehr viel Spass gemacht, auch wenn ein paar Klischees wohl unvermeindlich waren, die Musik hat das aber ausgeglichen, daher eine 1-.

In Bezug auf das Verstehen macht das kaum einen Unterschied
Es dauert schon ein wenig, bis man sich eingehört hatte, aber der Film war einfach schön anzuschauen.
Hat Spaß gemacht und man geht mit einem zufriedenen Gefühl nach Hause! So kann ein Montag gerne starten!

Wieder ein perfekter Feel-Good-Musik-Rom-Com-Movie mit einem Hauptdarsteller, der mal ein Face hat, mit einer bezaubernden Love-Interest, mit reichlichen schrulligen Nebenrollen, mit einer Nummernrevue von schönen Songs und Zwischentöne für andere Rechteinhaber und wieder Musik-Produzenten, die ihre Menschlichkeit morgens an der Garderobe abgeben. Also eigentlich also wie bei Yesterday. Dabei ist alles wieder so vorhersehbar, dass es fast schon wieder weh tut. Trotzdem fühlte man sich wunderbar unterhalten, butterweich eingeschnürt mit schönen Drohnen-Bildern von der englischen Küste und Männern, die noch richtig arbeiten und richtig singen können.
