"Jonathan" may be the feature-length directorial debut of Alabama-born Bill Oliver, but he's been "in the business" for a quarter of the century. Most of that time, however, he directed theatre plays, just making a short film every few years (which played a various festivals in- and outside the US). For "Jonathan", he teamed up with two co-writers with whom he previously had collaborated for two short films; the sci-fi tale premiered at the Tribeca Festival in April 2018 and was released in November that year in the US before quickly moving to Netflix there.
Warning: the trailer spoils one central "twist" (from 1:22 forward) which the film doesn't spell out until half an hour in:
How did you like "Jonathan" which first and foremost features Ansel Elgorts dual performance as brothers Jonathan and John? What did you think of the story, and of the supporting performances by Suki Waterhouse as girlfriend Elena and Patricia Clarkson as the physician Dr. Nariman? Please write down your thoughts about "Jonathan" in a reply to this post.
