#1202 I, Tonya

Sneakers born before 1975 most probably remember the drama about US figure skaters Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan in winter of 1994, right around the Lillehammer Olympic Games - at least over here in Europe, it was the first gossip-tinged story in the era of the 24-hour news cycle, preceeding the O.J. Simpson murder investigation and trial (which was briefly alluded to in tonight's movie). Australian-born director Craig Gillespie ("Lars and the Real Girl", "The Finest Hours") directed this mix of a Harding biopic and a retelling of "the incident", as the film calls it, based on a script of Steven Rogers (who is mainly know for romance movies like "P.S. I Love You", "Hope Floats", or "Kate & Leopold"), which mimics a modern-style documentary complete with dramatizations, confessionals and off-screen commentary.
Here's the trailer:
What did you make of "I, Tonya", which of course was an opportunity for Margot Robbie to show that she's got some acting in her? Did you enjoy the way the movie told the story? Did you like the performances, not only by Robbie, but also by Allison Janney as her mom, Sebastian Stan as her boyfriend/husband, and the other supporting players, from Julianne Nicholson as her trainer to Mckenna Grace (who we remember from last year's "Gifted") as little Tonya?
