Canadian-born director Denis Villeneuve apparently doesn't like to be typecast; his four english-language films to date, "Prisoners", #1009 "Enemy", #1079 "Sicario", and now "Arrival", genre-wise are all over the place. Thus, it's almost a surprise that his next project will be another sci-fi film - the sequel to the Ridley-Scott classic "Blade Runner". "Arrival" is based on a 1998 short story called "The Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang, a technical writer from New York who moonlights in science fiction and has been showered with awards even though he's only published about a dozen mostly short stories to date.
Here is the Trailer for "Arrival:"
Now, Villeneuve's first sneak movie, "'Enemy", placed 51st out of the 52 sneak movies of 2014, while "Sicario" got up to #12 in the 2015 webvoting. So, I'm especially curious where this move will end up, and what you thought of the story, look, sound and perfomances of "Arrival", with Amy Adams of course front and center. Just post your thoughts as a a reply to this article - you may even write in Heptapod B, if your so inclined, though I can't guarantee anyone will unterstand you.
